I have listened intently to many of the tax protester arguments. My issue is I have never seen one win in court. Yes, several if not thousands have avoided CRIMINAL charges but they all ended up having to pay taxes, interest and penalties.
Is there one court case I can read where a protester won where the courts said correct, income taxes are illegal, you don't have to pay, here is your tax money back? I have read many and have yet to find one. I'm not talking about a small issue of an overall case like injury awards or something like that, I'm talking income taxes as a whole.
Seems to me when Wesley Snipes lost the argument doesn't hold much water in my book. Here is a guy who had tons of money, hired the best constitutional, tax, criminal... lawyers money could buy, had the head of the tax protester groups there in court with him... and lost. Granted, he wasn't found guilty of criminal charges but still had to pay taxes, interest and penalties.
This is probably the wrong post for this forum but I would like to believe yet every where I look I see every single argument being shot down. My take, does the constitution exactly define taxes, no, but seems to lay the framework of which courts then interpret, much like every law in this country.
My last issue, let's pretend for one second income taxes were made illegal. Then what, we all get money back but the military shuts down, the banking system shuts down and our economy grinds to a halt? Or is a new "tax" passed the next day basically putting us in the same boat?
